What’s the best Employee Compensation Plan for my business?

You may be asking yourself these questions if you’re a business owner: What works best to prevent workers comp claims?  Is there a one size fits all solution?

Well in order to answers these questions, we have to look at both sides of the spectrum…

The Best

Over the years we’ve seen that the IC and ISP corporations who pay a fair amount per stop/per package and give a good safety/service bonus get the most out of their employees. This ‘team-first’ attitude can really pay off in every facet of your business.

Just think about it- these drivers work their tails off 45-weeks a year, so maybe on some weeks when they’re not at 100%, think about lessening their load. Not only will they thank you for this by still putting in a good day’s work, but chances are they’ll give it their all every day when they’re back at 100%. Remember, team-first!

The Worst

On the flipside are the owners who pay their employees hardly anything and give the drivers way too many stops.  This boss feels like he has so much control over his employees.  Then when an employee is out of work on a work comp claim, the employee feels like they have control over the boss.  This employee can easily justify staying on work comp payments for a longer period of time.  It’s a vicious cycle that you want to avoid at all costs.
